Boating DUI on Your Driver's License Possible?
An Oklahoma State Senator Bill Brown says he'll try again next year to have boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol added to a person's active driving record. Brown of Broken Arrow tried to add the law to a House bill by alteration but the accomplishment failed. Brown says he'll bring up the issue during next year's legislative session. Senator Kenneth Corn opposed the idea who says it did not make sense to link driving and boating records. And Public Safety Commissioner Kevin Ward says while he didn't necessarily argue the plan it is difficult for him to add a DUI on a boater to a driver's authorization if Oklahoma has no boat driver license requirements. Authorities say there were 69 boating accidents in 2007 with 19 related to alcohol use and 14 fatalities. |
